The first Monday of May is a holiday in the United Kingdom. It is celebrated as the start of the summer season. Different events are held around the country to celebrate the end of the winter season and the fertility and hope of the approaching summer. A widespread tradition is that of the maypole dancing. Our students after talking about this event in class, compared it to similar ancient Greek rituals and then created interesting projects.
