Detecting the truth among the lies and spotting fake news on the Internet are skills we want our pupils to acquire in our school. Using the online game “Bad News”, built by Cambridge researchers, we are working on building up our students’ resistance against disinformation and familiarising them with the tactics of distorting the truth. The pupils are trying to maintain their credibility in the eyes of their audience, while undermining the truth by using strategies, like impersonating the U.S. president. For every successful attempt, they are rewarded with a badge. Hopefully, having seen and used these propaganda tactics, they will gradually be able to spot the lies and become immune to them.
