Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA is the molecule that contains the instructions an organism needs to develop, live and reproduce.
It seemed quite challenging to talk about DNA with the students of the first grade of our junior high school in English but the outcome was really enthralling.
After watching an interview by Professor Sir Alec John Jeffreys, a British genetist, who developed techniques for DNA fingerprinting and DNA profiling, the children tried to apply the newly aquired Information in their everyday life. They started talking about their personality and physical characteristics they have taken after their relatives. They also mentioned several films they watch and how DNA identification can be used in order to solve crimes or accidents.
The students' projects on their iPads were impresive since they worked really hard to grapple with notions that are difficult to understand.
