Why would our 2nd graders create a giant cardboard wall displaying the colours of the rainbow? To send out a unified message that what makes us different is what makes us beautiful!
The beauty and diversity of the rainbow colours inspired us to talk about the beauty of diversity in every aspect of life. Using the analogy of the rainbow colours, our young learners grappled with the difficult subjects of bullying, tolerance and accepting diversity. Guess what: they aced the ‘test’!
After reading a short English poem about what bullying means, colouring an ample array of anti-bullying images and sharing ideas on how to “Be a Buddy... not a Bully”, they weaved a message of tolerance that invites us all to celebrate diversity!
